Fantastic location - nice hotel.

Lovely hotel situated close to Alexanderplatz U-Bahn station and main square where the comms tower is located. This is a main area for Christmas markets.
The hotel check in was very simple as is the layout of the hotel. Rooms were spacious with a desk and coffee machine / large screen TV and safe. Reception provided a room fan on request as rooms are very warm with a less than adequate temp / air con gauge (didn’t seem to work in room 503).
The water pressure is somehow amazing so be aware when turning the shower on! Room service is very good and bottled water was replaced every day for coffee / drinking.
Worth spending the €16 on breakfast - trust me! Talking about food, there is a great Italian Restaurant a short walk away down one of the side streets in the direction of town.
Only down side to the hotel is that there is a church within stones throw distance outside and they constantly ring their bells from 8am and every 1/2 hr too! Take earplugs or keep windows shut if you can bare the heat. There is only one USB that we found and it’s in the side of the TV so no use for recharging gadgets! Staff are very polite and were heard to speak a whole host of languages including English.

Great location but mattresses very uncomfortable

Very good location BUT first issue was all the smokers are allowed to smoke right outside the front entrance which isn’t nice.
Nice lobby area and friendly checkin team with English well spoken. There is a drinks decanter along with various sweets/chews which was nice.
The rooms are very clean and modern. Bathroom/shower area very nice and spacious. Everything there as expected but need to ask for iron if required. Reception did say it should be in the room but it wasn’t!
We did have a lot of issues with the bed mattresses, possibly the most uncomfortable we had for a very long time! No shape to them and extremely springy! Pillows were also a bit too soft and perhaps both need to be changed!
Air con is adequate but not amazingly cold and when on high the fan noise is very loud. I imagine in the hot summers this will be an issue.
TV channels only have 1 which is English speaking which is a surprise as other countries have multiple channels with lots of languages so Germany not having this I thought was odd, but we are here to get out and see the sights not watch TV, but for business travellers it could be frustrating.
Gym are is okay with a good range of equipment.
Sauna was a bit confusing (€5 per person and €2 deposit for locked) you need to ask for robe and slippers from reception. Also as it’s Germany no costumes = nude. If you aren’t comfortable with this then don’t go in. Make sure you sit on a towel when you are in the actual sauna, and shower before you go into the sauna itself. I’m not sure on age restrictions here so check with reception. I did read kids from 14 can go in but it’s not really an English thing to let kids that age go in there nude around adults!
Coffee machine was hit and miss as we attempted twice and once the capsules fell all the way through and second time the milk didn’t come out so we gave up.
Depending where your room is, ours was overlooking the Main Street, if you leave the window open at night it is noisy as the trams are operating late and early! As our air con wasn’t working properly we had to leave the windows open to get a brezze in to cool the room down. Not the end of the world but if you are a light sleeper then just making you aware.
Tram stop is a short distance away from front of hotel which is a great run straight into the tourist area and when you first arrive with your luggage.
We wouldn’t stay here again due to the poor mattress and air con issues.

Dear Aaronazzap,
Thank you for taking the time to provide such a detailed review of your stay at Leonardo Royal Berlin Alexanderplatz. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed our strategic location, clean and modern rooms, and the friendliness of our team.
We regret to hear about the issues you experienced with the mattresses and the air conditioning. We sincerely apologize for any discomfort these might have caused. We assure you that we are addressing these matters with our team to prevent future occurrences. Please let reception know, we will be happy to offer you a bed board for a harder mattress.
We appreciate your honest feedback about the sauna and the gym area. For tax reasons, we are required to charge a separate fee for the sauna, and we strive to make this as clear as possible to our guests upon check-in.
We are sorry that you felt disrupted about the trams, please indicate next time that you want to have a room to the quiet inner court.
You have not told at any time that you have missed something, like iron, during your stay. You can be assured that our employees react immediately. Please contact us personally, thanks.
We deeply value your feedback and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, where we aim to provide an even more enjoyable experience.
Kind regards,

Nice hotel but don't be fooled by holiday company photographs of the rooms

This was a nice hotel with easy access into the city centre but don't be fooled by holiday company photographs of the rooms. We specifically chose this hotel as the images of a standard double room showed a generous room space. This was not the case at all. The space between the end of the bed and the opposing wall was very small indeed. Felt cramped.

Late night on the 30 of January 2025 we were hungry so we ordered some food from a nearby restaurant .We forgot to order cutlery with our meal so we thought the reception could assist us on finding a fork. When we politely asked the lady in the reception if we could have a fork she bluntly replied “No we don’t have fork the restaurant is closed” with no intention on assisting us any further as if its extraordinary to think a fork was possible to be found in a 4-star hotel (which also has a restaurant and bar) even though it was 2am. We just forgot to order a fork and asked for some help . Let’s really believe that the whole hotel didn’t have a single fork she could at least act like she tried to find one or offer us an alternative option if there was any or be professional in some way .
Also our friend who is staying in the same Hotel with us before 2 nights, same time at night with the bar-restaurant closed again , took forks from the reception so the guy before 2 nights was was, helpful the lady probably wanted us to eat with our hands as she didn’t care at all that we didn’t have a way to eat our pasta !
Ok the bar was closed ! Fine ! And then what ? You can not bring just one spoon for your guests and don’t let them eat by hands ??? I asked her , so what you’re recommending? To eat by my hands ? And she didn’t care at all . She didn’t even tried to go to the closed restaurant and bring one . Even a ONE STAR HOTEL could help you eat like human and not like animal . There is no excuse! NO EXCUSE
They destroyed my last night , i suffered for one plate pasta !

Dear Emily Ch,
I am sincerely sorry to hear again about the difficulties you encountered during your stay with us. At Leonardo Royal Berlin Alexanderplatz, we aim to offer a first-rate experience and it seems we fell short in this instance.
I can understand how frustrating it must have been to not have the necessary cutlery to enjoy your meal. Although our restaurant was temporarily closed, but it would be easy for our staff at reception to take some from restaurant. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Once again, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. It's insights from valued guests like yourself that help us improve our operations.
Regards,
