A classic hotel right in the center

As stated in various reviews, this is indeed an older hotel, but I would call it classic, almost as if you are stepping into an old film scene. But that is precisely the charm of the hotel. We use this hotel when we are passing through and have now slept here twice and that was fine. Yes, the mattresses could be newer and yes, it smells like smoke in the hotel, which we don't like either, but it totally suits where you are. Furthermore, it is clean and well maintained and the rooms are spacious and located in the middle of the central square. Breakfast is also good enough.

Not recommended

I stayed here for one night during a business trip and would say that it’s basically a place to sleep. The interior is very old both in the lobby and in the rooms. There’s also a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the whole hotel including the rooms and there are people smoking in the restaurant located in the lobby in the evenings. Service is OK and the room was as clean as it can be considering the age of the interior. Breakfast was OK, not comparable to a large hotel chain but anyway OK with some things to eat. Check in and check out was smooth and they had prepared key cards before arrival.
The location is excellent right in the city center next to the main square.

Modern hotel with great location

“Hotel Savus” is situated in downtown of Slavonski Brod. Its imposing oval facade with big french windows looks to the main square of the city named to one of the most famous Croatian writers Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić. That’s why the pedestrian zone in vicinity of the hotel is rich with many caffes, bars and night clubs. The hotel offers to the guests wide and clean rooms which are well furnished and have all the modern facilities. Every morning in the hotel’s restaurant is served a rich breakfast that includes various kinds of vegetables, fruits, cheeses, sausages and sweets with very good quality. In the restaurant the guests could enjoy also to a qualified dinner with different kinds of dishes from the Croatian and international cuisine. The hotel is very close to the riverside of the famous Sava River (only 100 m. on foot) and because of that it is very convenient about easy evening romantic walk along to the riverbank with amazing view to Bosnia and Herzegovina because Sava is simultaneously a frontier-river. Beside all aforesaid the hotel is a good starting point about exploring of the close located main city landmarks as the Brlićevih House, the Brod Fortress, one interesting exemple of the military architecture from the XVIII century and the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Trinity, a real treasure-house of the late Baroque art.

Excellent hotel

very centralized hotel in this lovely city. very clean rooms, comfortable beds and very well kept. Breakfast was also excellent and they have a very good restaurant as well. although my stay was short, it was a good experience. it is located in a small square where no cars are allowed and close to restaurants, bars, coffee shops and other shops as well.

Good location, poor breakfast

I slept here for a business trip. The hotel is located in the city center and has a small parking across the street which is free of charge.
The mattresses are very soft which is ok but I personally like harder beds.
The bathroom was very clean and comfortable.
The breakfast was not representative: very small choice of salami and cheese so I only took a banana.
For sure it’s the best hotel in this area but it is unfortunately not more than average.
