Key lime pie
After 4 restaurants-all with similar price of $7-$8 per piece our results:
Hand over Fist SNAPPERS!
Large slice-shareable-perfect ratio of crust to pie filling. Nice limey tart flavor with enough whipped cream to enjoy.
2nd place, Hobo’s. Large slice-shareable-nice ratio of crust to pie filling with enough whipped cream to enjoy-not as much of a lime taste.
3rd place, Lorelei’s. Small unshareable slice, not much lime flavor.
4th place, Sundowners. This was a key lime meringue pie. Too thick crust, small layer of pie filling, huge meringue topping.
Of course it’s our opinion-your tastes may say differently.

One of Key Largos Best
Staff was friendly and polite.
The view was beautiful.
Prices were in line with the great portions.
This is a local place with great music and food.
Would recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Ick
Furnishings were spare; we had to put our luggage on the floor. The furniture was mostly dirty, as were doors and other contact surfaces.
A single chair made it difficult for two people to lounge. Basics like facial tissue, cups and a “Do Not Disturb” sign were lacking. The room doesn’t have a clock, but the neighborhood has a rooster who’s an early riser.
No ice machine. Broken window blinds. The noisy bed had a total of two pillows but was surprisingly comfortable.
The sleeping rooms are an adjunct of the restaurant, so there’s no “front desk” until the restaurant opens at 4 p.m.
Most of the upkeep seems to be DIY, and some of it probably wouldn’t pass a Codes inspection outside of Florida. A notable exception was the shower, which looks to have been installed in recent years by a professional; excellent work by someone. We don’t know whether every room was a new shower.
The walls should have been patched and repainted 5-10 years ago, and they should hire a pro this time. The “ocean view” is largely obscured by the roof of the restaurant.
Otherwise, it’s fine.
